![]() The pandemic year gave Vimeo a shot in the arm, as video consumption went up, as the firm now has over 200 million users globally, with 1.6 million paying subscribers, as of March 2021. So it wasn't surprising when Vimeo CEO Anjali Sud's picture with her son, moments before she took the video software & marketing platform public, went viral last month.Īnjali Sud, born to Punjabi parents who emigrated to the US, gave Vimeo a new lease of life by transforming it from an alternative of YouTube to a software platform that offers companies tools with which they can create, manage and share high-quality videos across platforms. It's rarer still when she is of Indian origin and does it minutes after cradling a 2.5 year old baby in her arms. ![]() KT: We’re 10-plus years into the ad-supported online video space, where You-Tube is clearly the front-runner in that, Facebook is going to be a major force in that and others are dipping their cup into the migrating stream of dollars coming from offline to online.Īnd you’ve got the major OTT services like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon. It's rare to see a female CEO ring the Nasdaq stock opening market bell. How do you view this-as competitive or complementary to what you’re doing at Vimeo? NTV: Amazon just introduced Amazon Video Direct, a self-service platform for content creators. KT: Amazon is an incredible platform and a formidable force. Seeing them opening up only demonstrates our point and our belief that creators are going to want to go direct to their audiences and they’re going to want to offer premium paid experiences. The key differences are that Amazon is still only available in five markets where Vimeo is a truly global platform. We have sales in over 200 markets and territories. Our revenue share is still much more creator-friendly. Amazon is taking 50% of revenues on the TVOD and SVOD side. ![]() Vimeo is the world's most innovative video experience platform.
